This is what we want from you: the funniest, saddest, ballsiest (previously unpublished) prose you can send us–bonus points awarded for grammatical aplomb and a general avoidance of cliche and pretension. We like a good, plotty yarn. We love a good, quirky character. Most of all, we want to wonder what’s going to happen next.
1. Please send all submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org. This is what we want your subject line to look like: SUBMISSION – [your name] – [title]
2. Submissions may be pasted into the body of the e-mail or attached as a .doc, .docx, .txt or .rtf file.
3. In the e-mail, please include your full name, e-mail address, word count, and if this is a simultaneous submission*. If you are attaching your submission in a separate file, please make sure your name appears on it somewhere. Cover or query letters are unnecessary.
4. We will only accept prose submissions of 5,000 words or fewer–that includes your traditional and experimental fiction, microfiction, nonfiction, memoir, personal essay … hell, as long as it’s fewer than 5,000 words, in English, and not poetry (though we encourage you to be poetic), we’ll read it.
*We will accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know promptly if a piece is accepted elsewhere.
Our reading schedule:
Submissions for our inaugural issue are due by midnight on September 15, 2011.
Any submissions received after that date will be considered for the next issue.
